Angel Island Visitor Center 2021

Angel Island located within the San Francisco bay is a state park without a visitor center. This is a proposal to remedy that. The site is primarily traversed by ferry, bus, and hiking trails that are all discrete from each other. With a new visitor center, a primarily zone for bus loading (that currently doesn’t exist for the actual location) can be integrated into a building that also engages with the island’s arrival docks. The visitor center will be a multi level structure that follows the site’s natural contours thus reinforcing an eroding hillside and providing easier access to hiking trails.
