Each of Modern Warfare’s multiplayer maps are small shooting arenas in which plays do combat against each other. I worked on a few of them where the goal was to take existing combat layouts and develop art for an overall theme.
In a forested Eastern European village, the local sawmill has caught fire as players battle for supremacy over of this strategic resource hub. To provide a central landmark to the map I designed an old watchtower in the style of historical vernacular tied to this region.
Offshore battle brings players onto an arctic ocean oilrig. As they fight over control of the oil supply, they through multiple industrial environments that I designed as close as possible to real offshoring platforms.
During the winter months of Russia, players drop into a military operation to fight over a cold-war tank factory that is back in commission. This is a massive map, with tank production facilities, abandoned villages on the outskirts, and massive oil pipelines. Thus requiring a good amount of variety in the art production.
